You will need to take multiple appointments to actually get the answers you are looking for. It all depends on how friendly the person is.
I have had at least one appointment where the lady was so kind that she actually told me the date/time my files were touched by the processing officer at the NSC. Infopass officers have a lot of information on their screens.
Dress decently.

Hello All,
I was reading at some of the posts in this forum and they seem to have been quiet helpful.
My company has decided to go ahead with my GC process.
Its in the very early stage, but my immigration specialist gave me a heads up regarding something.
She said, that as I have a 3 yrs BE degree the USCIS may not recognize me under EB2 category :confused: So I explained her the education system in India, but she said that it depends upon the Credential Evaluation Agency which will process my educational qualification and prepare a report and submit it to USCIS.
Following this USCIS will make a decision whether to grant EB2 or EB3 category.
I am sure many of the members may have faced a similar Dilemma....Is there any specific solution to this?
To be precise I completed my Diploma from Mumbai & Degree from Pune University, followed by MS in US and currently working on H1B.
Please Advice.

You can just show your masters degree and file under EB2. The important thing is the job should require a Masters Degree. Then the USCIS do not care what undergraduate degree you have.

The trend here clearly shows- how bad is this broken LEGAL immigration system. NSC send only receipts, TSC sends EADs but no receipts. People with 2005 prioritry date get their GCs (some reported EB-2 cases from India that got GC in July, because prioroty dates were current), but the next month goes back to unavailable and then to Apr 04 (Sept visa bulletin) and then may go back to stone ages (some predict 2003- for October bulletin).
Isn't this time for fixing the system- legally?.. IV is doing its best- kudos to IV and hope the eyes of US govt open up. It should not be hit or miss and your fate should not be decided by lottery- there is whole different category for that.

My AP is approved on 27th, but I did not receive it so far. I already booked my tickets and have only one day left for my travel.

As previously mentioned in this forum, a year back (almost) when my visa stamping had not expired I had approached the MD MVA for my license. Due to a last/first name issue in my passport they declined the DL. Now after going through the name change process in US and India and getting the court order, I re-approached the MVA. After multiple levels of screening and approvals taking full 4 hrs, finally I got my 5 year license this Thursday.
MD license rules changed and there was lack of clarity for everybody some weeks back. Now there seems to be better clarity. Having SSN and i-94 is important as I felt.
If some one is in the same boat, I hope this info helped.

I have filed for Advance parole the second time, got it approved and the documents in hand in about 4 weeks.
The dates can be tentative, put in a date when you think you might travel, its not hard and fast so guesstimate.
The list of docs to be sent with your AP form are :
� Filled in form I-131
� Check
� 2 Photographs
� Copy of I-485 receipt notice
� Copy of previous approved advance parole document(if any)
� Copy of passport pages
� Copy of drivers license

Thanks guys for all your replies & suggestions. Just to let you know, that I am paying for my whole GC process and I have been with this company since last 3 years. I have already completed one 2 year contract term with them and still they are asking me to sign new contract. To me, this is total blackmailing.

This query is for a friend of mine.
His labor and 140 was pre-approved.
In jun 2007 he applied for 485 / EAD and AP.
He got EAD, is working on it.
He also used AP to go to india and back.
His H1 is already expired this month.
All he has is a new AP based new i94 which expires on the day his EAD expires.
Now his drivers license is expiring.
Does anyone know the documents he will be required to submit to DL center to get DL extended.
Also the most important thing is, can the DL somehow be extended for more than 1 year. Because doing this every year is a pain.

The suggested method is to file a new I140 after the EB2 LC approval, along with the older I140 approval notice and a request letter quoting the related law and claiming the older priority date.
Never heard of amending an already approved I140 to a new LC.

As I qualified for EB2 (have Master's degree), my employer's attorney is filing new EB2 perm, and he is saying that he can port the earlier priority date of EB3 after getting the approval of EB2 perm application and don�t need to file I 140 again as we already have approval for EB3 I 140 which can be converted to EB2 with new priority date.
Is it possible to have EB2 category and old priority date without refiling new I-140 ?

If we can get one thing fixed, it should be about adding another step before 485, i.e. people should be able to apply for 485 without the priority date getting current/get EAD so we can move to different companies. At-least it clears lot of head-aches for me. I know that I am dreaming, but hey... that's all I got.
