Dolby Digital Surround. If you just have a R/L channel.... its only 1 D. But since Dolby has 5.... 2 back... 3 forward... with the center forward and i different height.... u can get almost 3D sound. I think its a really cool features that dissapointingly won't get taken advantage of enough. Some programs should definetly utilize that. It would be great for a simple maze game where like as ur mouse moves u hear where its going. It'd really be cool beans.

I think Apple needs to start attracting the business aspect of the world. It is so Windows-dominated right now, it's ridiculous. Am I right?:confused:
I don't know many people that own a Mac. Seriously. Off the top of my head, there are 7-8 people I know that have a PC, and half of those are dells.
Why the hell do I own a Mac? Stability. I've gone through 4 years of Windows. I don't need viruses, etc. This is a hassle free OS.
Apple needs to open more Apple Stores, show people there are better things than Windows.

Expect software announcements at an Apple special event on 30 January (the consumer release date for Vista, as if you didn't know already). There Steve will talk about Leopard's Top Secret features and the new iLife suite, just so that once MS have stopped kicking themselves after the release of the iPhone and the bruises are starting to heal, they can do it all over again. See Zunes and Vista in bargain bins all over the world (I know that Zunes are only on sale in the US at present, but in order to get rid of stock they will be put on sale everywhere without any software support whatsoever).
I have to disagree with your logic on this. It would be a big mistake to release Leopard, or for that matter have any sort of media event about Leopard on or around the time of Vista's launch. They should wait at least a few weeks after Vista's release.
It's not that Leopard doesn't have the potential ability to out-shine Vista, it certainly does. While Leopard would certainly not be lost in the shuffle as far as Mac users go, any potential press that Apple could garner from it's release would be basically wasted. Microsoft is falling into Sony's little trap: they've got the advantage of making a profit because Sony's got a higher priced console, BUT Sony's also losing money for us consumers. Once everyone realizes that, and adds the prices up for the things the 360 is missing (such as wireless and HD-DVD), man does a PS3 seem like an incredible value. Not only that, the 1.6 update really kicks the PS3 up a notch in functionality. They've also got a greater variety of games coming out...We'll see how this turns out.
And really, I feel really sorry for the people that bought a 360 only a couple months ago...It's a shame that Microsoft has to be childish. :rolleyes:

... but after seeing these video presentations, serve me a plate of crow and I can't wait until June. This is very, very impressive. Still lots of questions, ie Color, Motion, hell lets throw in Shake while we are at it. I'm assuming there will be other apps in the family to show up but this is quite impressive to say in the least.

IMO this is the most amazing release from apple in quite some time. As a runner, I'm frankly blown away by this. I have a nano already, but this is awesome.

Am I the only one that wants iWork 07'? My trial ran out on 06 and I need it for school, but don't want to get 06 and have 07 come out a few days later.

Before the update my MBP would beachball everytime it tried to wake up from sleep forcing a hard restart. It's been three days since installing and I am prepared to say the the update has fixed the problem. :)
Although my experience has been positive, the track record of this update does not seem too good. I personally have not noticed any increase in temp. Processor whine was always there and can still be silenced with Quiet MBP.

The prices for e-equivalents of established magazines is just unfeasible. Even with Apple taking 30% of the cut, it would still be profitable to just lower the sale price. E-sales mean less resources (ie paper, ink), lower transport costs, and less % to the store who sold the physical magazine. Keeping the magazines at print prices is pure gouging, and the slow sales reflect that.
