I picked up a 16GB yesterday for $299 and after using it last night I decided I should get another one so my wife and I aren't fighting over just one :). I ran out this morning and all the 16GB are gone so I picked up a 32GB for $399. The problem now is I still have an iPad2 on order from Apple due mid-April. I'm considering canceling the iPad2 and being content with the 2 first gen iPads.
I think these are perfectly fine and I'm sure there will be another revision next year. The only thing that would have tilted the scales for me to hold out for the iPad2 is if it had a higher resolution screen. The cameras do nothing for me and the weight and thickness I don't think will make much of a difference when just using it around the house.
Is that what others who are still buying the 1st gen are thinking too?

Well, if rumours about the reason for white iPhone delays are correct (i.e., leakage from the white casing affecting camera performance), then he's just selling Apple's rejects. Fair enough, I suppose, if people are willing to pay for them (especially that much $$$). It would be interesting to hear reports about camera performance after the conversion.
While I cannot say what his parts looked or felt like I can tell you this. There is a huge difference between parts.
I ordered a "Genuine Apple" White Back plate from ebay. The color was awful, the flash blew out every picture and camera lens cover distorted images.
I then ordered a full conversion kit from another vendor. The parts looked very close but the end result was way different. No light leak, no flash issues and pictures as good as my black one.
The front plate had Apple printed on the ribbon cables. Does this make it genuine? Doubtful but there is no way I'll ever be able to tell.
I'm super happy with the result, and with Dock and Headphone converted as well, I paid a lot less then this kid was charging.

I just got off the phone with sale rep, and all they have is 32gb and 64gb left. When asked about the price, she said $500 for 32gb (??). I mentioned the article and she still said $500. Weird? Is there an official link to this somewhere on the verizon site, as all I can see is it bundled with mifi @ 429.99 (16gb).
My store knew about the price drop and they had the price tag on the display updated. At the bottom of the price sheet that shows the iPad2 and iPad1 prices, it showed 299/399/499 for the different models. My guess is if you buy it in store, it should ring up at the lower price.

Push works AWESOME on Kerio Connect 7 to the iPhone, 6 worked great also. It uses an outlook connector for it's black magic. Email are generally pushed to and appear on my iPhone within a second of hitting the server.
Before SLS I used mail server software on linux. The general idea was that Apple promoted SLS as THE server to use with an iPhone, which apparently isn't completely true. I don't think I want to pay a yearly subscription for another mail server again.

Anyone know whether or not the IMACs are going to be updated in the next few months?
I am starting to look for a new computer (switching from a PC to a MAC) and trying to get a handle on when possible updates might be released if any. I would hate to buy in the next couple months when all I had to do was wait until the end of the year.

At least they have fixed it so that it properly quotes previous emails in replies!

All right, let me rephrase that: government funds plenty of things, like libraries and parks, that aren't "necessary" but wanted. If you want to keep the argument on the federal level, substitute your own examples, including national parks. (Remember Bush trying to push them towards privatization?)

I specifically did it so I could install ZumoCast and use MyWi On Demand so I can tether to my iPad without significantly damaging my phones battery.

Does push-mail actually work this time? In SLS it is supported, but not with an iPhone. iPhone push thus far only works with Exchange, Google or MobileMe.

I would love to see Apple open up with an entire line of IOS devices. They keep comparing the iPhone with Android despite there being numerous devices from different manufacturers. Having an exclusive product that only a few could was ok when there was no competition. Now, with there being so many cool phones like the EVo and othere, Apple needs ot step the game up.
Offer a Evo sized HD iPhone. The Evo screen even though it is inferior in resolution is nice. Using the map program on it is rnjoyaboe and you do not have to zoom like you do on the iPhone.
Have a iphone Nano that is $100 with a smaller screen if it is possible to still run the apps etc.
Sell the thing on all carriers and give Android a run for its money. i think if a Verizon or Sprint customer had a choice between an iPhone and a Galaxy, they would choose an iPhone.

I can understand why they are doing this. This is a new product and there is no preexisting PPC version out there. It almost seems like a waste of development time since a good portion of the customer base who would be purchasing this will have an Intel mac by mid-2007.
Still sucks for the quad G5 mac owners. Now I'm just waiting for the first Intel-only mac game to come out, lol.

The worst "feature" of Aperture is the high computer requirements. It really is a resource hog for not much reason. LR is becoming very similar with far less system specs.

Maybe years ago. But when you move the cursor you tap and move your finger across the trackpad. When you tap to click you tap and lift your finger. Two different gestures. Just because you can't do it doesn't mean there arent people that can.

i really thinking of selling my ipad.. i mean for 90% of the time my 17" MBP gets the job done.. and for quick e-mail checks or when im out the house, my iphone is invaluable, the ipad is a nice idea but i would not use it in the house, and pointless carrying that and my ip4 around
