Hi Folks, I have few questions regarding opening NRE account...
1. Seems most of the banks offer NRE account for NRIs. In general, which bank is better for opening such an account?:confused:
2. Do all the banks which offer NRE accounts offer account services irrespective of which branch I open the account at? e.g., if I open an NRE account say in delhi, can I have access to and get service for the account say in bangalore? Or do I have to go to that particular branch where I opened the account? In this regard, which bank is better?
3. Which bank generally gives better exchange rates?

Could you guys please update me what happ with your cases etc. i found an employer for h1b transfer and did that on 30th of march 2009 thru premium processing. today again the status has been changed and got an RFE. will find out what was the RFE about etc. God should help me....

what do they mean with "USCIS expects to provide in time-compliance for receipting of form types listed below:" and then lists the date 7/18/07 for I-485 in Nebraska Service Centre.
I filed my I-485 on 06/25/07 (my PD is March 04). I have not yet received any confirmation, receipt or anything else from my application. I just hope that my application did not end up with the July applications.
Is yours EB2?

Can we contact journos like Neil Cavuto, Sheryl Casone to talk about how giving GC to legals like us can stimulate economy in someway?
I noticed these Business section journos are endlessly talking about ways to prevent the recession.
We can suggest them to talk about recapturing of visas & giving the legals GCs as it can contribute towards (to some extent) a possible stimualtion to the economy(it will surely add to the percentage...) surely we are boosting the spending by making high earning legals spend more on say housing or Autos by giving them GCs...
Not sure if IV gurus are thinking on these lines.

I got the RFE on my I485(PD:May 2002 - India- EB3- I140 approved on jan-2009) application. The query is,
The birth certificate you submitted has a delayed registration. Please comply with the following.
a) Hospital birth records which name the child and both parents.
b) Medical records which name the child and both parents
c)school records which name the child and bother parents.
d) Census records which name the child and both parents.
c) Religious records in the form of a certificate under the seal of the organization where the baptism, dedication, presentation or comparable e rite occurred following the birth,showing the date and place of the child's birth, the date of the religious ceremony, and the name of the child's parents.
I have the transfer certificate and the mark statements that has the father's name, my name and the date of birth. In general, schools and colleges in india, don't include the mother's name. Also i born at home, i don't have any hospital birth records and medical records. I am totally confused what records i need to provide to USCIS. I discussed some famous attorney, they too encouraging me to get any form of documents with my mother name back home in india. Any advice is greatly appreciated. USCIS can't keep track of applications they receive..:)
Every document they want they "REQUEST" from you.
W2, paystubs this is basic stuff dude..
If you don't have them, there's less certainity.. but this is funny process, people have gone thro' easier on lesser evidence.. !So nothing is a dead-ender if you are lucky..
In normal cases though.. I think IF (and that's a big IF) you get an RFE, you will have hard time proving A2P but then again maybe your employer is big and has enough profits etc to prove A2P .. so don't loose heart.. but I would advise to just change to a good employer instead of working in this messy situation to get 1 or 2 yrs advantage on PD

I am concerned because I am going for my visa stamping in March and the last thing I want is to be out of status! When I mentioned this to my boss his answer was -- We will give you a letter stating that you are working reduced number of hours, and we cannot afford the salary promised on I-129.
Keep in mind that his letter stating reduced hours will be of no good. That actually amounts to fraud on the company's part. Do not get into that doodle.
I think the best thing to do is to get a new LCA approved, and amend your H1. If your new salary is still more than the government published rate for that type of job in your region, a new LCA and amended H1 may not be necessary.
I will search for similar cases and post here if I find something.

Since my current EAD is expiring Sep 10th, I'm planning to go to the local USCIS office for an interim EAD in first week of Sep.
What is the procedure, do i need to take infopass or any other apoointment or just walk in with papers ?
It's not yet been 90 days since i filed, but i still want to give it a shot. I plan to take a letter from my employer saying without interim EAD (without me being able to work) company would face a setback in a critical phase of project.
I also plan to use such a letter in support of an expedite request.
Gurus please advice:
- How soon should I fax expedite request?
- How soon/late should i go to local USCIS office for interim EAD?
- Could one interfere the other?

As for as I know USCIS local office has stopped issuing interim EAD some where from 2006.
The only option we have is to request for expedite process which we can do by calling the USCIS customer service number. This you can get it in the USCIS website.

Best option get H1 in India return and apply for AOS, if not apply for CP and return with H1 go back in 6 months get GC if all else fails wait in India for 6 months and come back with GC.

Hi Guys,
Finally my H1 petition got approved!!! Actually I received EAC number on 17th August and when I checked online with the EAC number it is updated in the USCIS website that they received my application on August 8th, it is in the "Accepted" status. The explanaton says "USCIS is in process of reviewing". On the next day, I mean on August 18th petition has been updated from "Accepted" Status to "Decision" status and in the explanation area they stated that my H1 petition is approved. Hurray :) !!!

Finally my H1 petition got approved!!! Actually I received EAC number on 17th August and when I checked online with the EAC number it is updated in the USCIS website that they received my application on August 8th, it is in the "Accepted" status. It appears there was a problem with the website status update. Today my attorney received a letter that my MTR has been approved. I guess my I-485 is back on track now.

You must file AC21 letter before your old employer revokes I140. Otherwise, your I485 will be denied. Request your old employer to wait to revoke I140 until you have sent that letter.

EAD Renewal can be filed if EAD has expired or will expire within 120 days. The process is the same for both and can be done on your own - Its really simple
If you efile you have to go for biometrics. If you paper file you need to send photos. I don't think there is much difference in the time for approval

I have an Olympus C2100 Ultrazoom. The real focal length of the lens is given as 7mm to 70mm (38mm to 380mm on 35mm equiv). When I operate the zoom lever, a bar appears in the viewfinder with T at the top and W at the bottom. Can I assume that this scale will be linear in terms of the focal length ie if the number of steps between W and T is 30, would each step increase the focal length by 63/30 mm (=(70-7)/30)? This would,however, mean that my standard 50mm equivalent focal length would be only one step up from the W end of the scale, which does not ring true. In which case, is there an easy way to 'calibrate ' this scale?

Next year in July when we will become current, it will again become a game of probability. Because of the 2 specific issues I mentioned, we will have a slightly lower probability of our cases getting picked up. So, I am trying to be pro-active to address these specific issues. The issues definitely need to be fixed as these are glaring glitches in the USCIS file transfer system. I am thinking that we can draft a letter and all affected people can write to Ombudsman. Let me know what everybody thinks

I have filed two service requests, two congressional enquiries and nothing. So have other people and it has not helped them either.
We are all in a black hole hoping for our cases to see the light of day some time just like the WAC cases you refer to.
